David

David the love of my life is gone. I bid him farewell with a warm hug last night and that will be the last time I see him unless I run into him in Ashland, OR.

I exaggerated this a bit, he is just a good friend with whom I share a lot in common.

Computer Now Fixed

Well, I broke down and bought a Hard Drive yesterday. I went with a seagate 60 gig. I couldn’t believe just how easy they made it to change a laptop harddrive. Sadly though it took me almost 8 hours to get everything back installed onto my computer just the way it was before the crash. With the dual boot, wireless internet, ati drivers and all it takes a while. I hope to get the networking done with scill soon. If I manage to work on it this week I should finish it this week..

Computer Breakage

Last week my hard drive on my computer died and I am going to use this opertunity to do a little fast from computer usage.  You can expect my computer activity to be minimal for a while as my only access will be at work and the library.  I feel kinda liberated so far, some times I feel as though the computer is using me as a tool for its growth rather than the other way around.

EtherQuest Renewal

Last month I started working on EtherQuest again. It is a project that I started a few years back and work very casually at. It is a curses based RPG game written in Ruby. I started out by writing a somewhat MVC based, high end, curses wrapper in ruby called Scill, and that right now is almost done (about 90%). On top of that I’ve begun work on the etherquest engine, but have just started on it so it is only about 10%. I’m optimistic about this iteration of etherquest. This is the third time that I’ve completely rewritten the code from the ground up. There are some issues with scill that I need to work out before it is going to be done (and I think it will take me a couple of months to get there). I’ve also got a nice website keeping updates on the progress with screen shots and such. Check it out:

Old Fashion Journalling

Since the advent of the new year I’ve been keeping a written journal and I think that I will be doing most of my writting in there, but I think that most tech related stuff will end up here.

choir concert yesterday

Yeah, there was an amazing concert yesterday!!!

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday, me!

Whole Foods

Today is day 3 at whole foods.  In case you didn’t know I quit my old job at captel and am now working at whole foods, I also quit my job at the acupuncture clinic.  Things are going well so far.  I work in the deli and get to try many wonderful foods (trying is kind of required since we have to be able to make suggestions).  Today we have 5 different types of squash all of which are wonderful.  The best part of the job is the group of people that I get to work with, they are wonderful.  If I could make any changes right now, I would prefer to be in the produce department, but beggers can’t be choosers.  Also the new job interferes with choir practice so I may have to drop out of choir at least till I am out of school.  Well, my break is over, back to work.  BTW, it is a wet snow storm outside right now and business is down because of it.

Amendment passed

Wisconsin voters favored an amendment that would add two sentences to the state constitution to define marriage as a union of one man and one woman.

The amendment prevents the state from recognizing similar relationships among unmarried individuals, such as civil unions.

Yes – 1,259,489
No – 860,996

(I and everyone I know voted No!)
